A Castle near Venice

Beauty in the Heart of Mugello

Looking for somewhere different?  Villa Campestri is located on a hill, 35km from Florence, in the heart of Mugello area.  It is surrounded by a stunning park where olive oil and chestnuts trees grow allowing nice walks of great interest from an artistic and naturalistic point of view.  Villa Campestri is a completely renovated, typical Renaissance Villa. The oldest part dates back to the 13th century.  It has been owned by noble family Marchesi Roti Michelozzi until 1989 and documents prove that the family instructed artist Lorenzo di Bicci (from Giotto School) to fresco the tabernacle located at the entrance of the Villa in 1380, which still exists today.   Around those times the small Chapel within the Villa premises was also built.
